Summer Solstice Gifting to The Source- water blessing, paddle and picnic

  • Blue Cypress Lake County Park Boat Ramp (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year and also draws a chapter of my Home is Here project to a close. Come and be refreshed by the headwaters of the St. Johns River in Blue Cypress Lake and participate in a community ritual of remembrance and healing.

Come add your water to the light.

I will have books for sale as well be collecting waters and blessings in town that day. If you would like to join us earlier, come and visit the Town of Fellsmere, FL where women secured the vote five years before Amendment 19. Meet up at the Marion Fell Library from 1:00 pm - 3:30.

Bring a picnic for dinner afterwards, bug spray, and water shoes, towel etc. There are restrooms and showers available onsite. No swimming- gators….

If you are so inclined bring your kayak and join me on the paddle out to release the waters.

Funded in part by a matching grant from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs

May you see her beauty,
May you be her beauty.
Thank you for bearing witness to my story.” - Sarah Crooks
Join me in bring a decade of healing work to fruition.

Disappearing and popping up in unexpected ways like the River herself, elements can be installed in spaces ranging from parks to parking lots, as well as traditional gallery settings. Yellow House, located near the mouth of the St. Johns River, serves as the start of this six month journey of building community by offering opportunities to mourn and celebrate our relationship with the natural world. BABS ONE NIGHT ONLY. SATURDAY, JANUARY 30th
I am so excited to start this year with the first in a series of Listening Hour events with the talented performance artist Barbara Colaciello.  If you don't know her yet here's a little introduction.

http://jacksonville.com/news/columnists/charlie-patton/2014-11-10/story/one-us-barbara-colaciello-enjoying-her-diagonal-life.

Barbara loves to tell stories in the moment and the moments are happening right now as her Italian mother, Libby, transitions at the age of 93 to Florida life and senior living.

Reflections, insights, roadblocks are all part of the equation, right? Siblings, medicare, finances are certainly in the mix. Learning how to move through it all with grace and PATIENCE, that's the trick.

Please join us for nosh, libations, chit and chat and a lot of STUFF. Hope to see you enter throughthe gate on King St into my magical garden, for a special celebration of storytelling with Babs.

Click on the link below to purchase a ticket which includes food, libations and show. $20.00.

Learning to See- Learning to Draw

The fundamental act of drawing is the beginning of all other arts. Once we slow down and really look, we can quiet the inner mind and begin to really see. Cultivating stillness is a practice and drawing from direct observation is one of the best ways to do this. While deepening our connection to the natural world through direct observation of organic forms, we will learn to pay attention to something other than ourselves, get out of our heads and learn to see. Using simple materials and a range of techniques I have learned over the last 25 years we will look deeply and record our experience.

Tuesday afternoons 12:30-2:45 pm

class is limited to 12 students

6 week session starts October 20

$150 plus materials
